An innovative take on the classic StingRay, the Sterling by Music Man DarkRay has been designed in collaboration with the much acclaimed Darkglass Electronics team. As such, the DarkRay comes pre-loaded with a neatly integrated Darkglass-designed preamp. This is not just any old preamp. This preamp offers up three different modes: Clean (preamp only), Alpha (distortion) and Omega (fuzz). And, once your preferred mode has been selected, the output can be shaped and customised via a set of two-band EQ controls, gain and blend controls. Basically, with the DarkRay in your hands, you can get rid of your fuzz and distortion pedals once and for all.

The Sterling by Music Man DarkRay: The Dark Horse

The 'Dark' theme doesn't just lie in the sound of that hidden preamp, but in the aesthetics of this singular bass guitar. The nyatoh body has been dipped entirely in black; the hardware, from the bridge to the tuners have been dipped in black; even the control pots have all been dipped in black. A nice detail is the multicoloured LED ring surrounding the mode pot, which indicates the selected mode, and all of it has been topped off by a dark ebony fretboard. Since this is a Sterling by Music Man model, supreme playability is also assured by the traditional feel of a 9.5 inch fretboard radius and set of twenty-one medium frets. Deluxe Gig Bag included.
